THE OUTPOST
The jewel in the Arcadia Valley Escape fleet. The Outpost is our latest and greatest addition to the farm stay. It has been built out of sandstone and corrugated iron in the early European settlers style. This house is not for everyone as it is completely off the grid. Its lights and fridge are run off solar power with a generator back-up. It is as unique as its surrounding, based on the foothills of Arcadia Valleys most predominant mountain, Castle Hill. The view is breathtaking, and the experience is one to remember.
The Outpost is equipped with a small bar fridge, kitchen essentials including enough plates/cups/glasses, cutlery for 4 guests, saucepan, stock pot, a BBQ, an outside fire-pit, an inside fireplace, a Gas Cooktop for the Kettle and it even comes with a hot shower & flushing toilet! Firewood is also provided.
The Outpost is perfect whether you are a couple, family or a larger group. For our larger groups or family bookings we encourage you to bring tents/swags/campers/vans – there is plenty of room. It is important to note, the bathroom is a 25m walk from the main building and there are steep steps leading up to the loft, we would advise elderly guests or families with children under three to consider the Homestead if these would be a concern.

FOOD
If you’re a camping group it is important to remember to bring your food in an eski with ice as the Outpost only has a small bar fridge. There is a BBQ and an outside fire pit for cooking. Arcadia Valley Escape is a long way from the nearest grocery store so it’s important to stock up before you arrive.
The nearest food stores are in Injune or Rolleston around 90km away so this is something you don’t want to forget.
For a bit more variety Roma or Springsure might be a better bet to pick up your supplies.
