With no room at the Inn closer to Carnarvon Gorge we lucked onto Rowan and the Sunnyholt farm, and such good luck it turned out to be. The day we spent exploring the property the highlight of two weeks on the road. A gentle breeze over the bird hides, swans, Ibis, wagtails, the expedition ranges a distant fiery lantern at dusk before the gas flares bring the night to life. Somewhere to read a book, do some drawing, and an ideal launching pad for day trips into the Gorge. We stayed in the Cottage, roomy, clean and warm and well appointed without fuss.” – Colin, Sydney NSW

What a remarkable and beautiful place to stay! We had two nights at the Outpost directly following a visit to Carnarvon Gorge. We traveled as a family of four, with two teenage boys who loved the firepit, the pool table and the pot-belly stove in particular. They even coped with the fact that there is no phone signal and no wi-fi …we simply loved this place and will return as soon as we can. Thanks to Maddie and Rowan for their warm hospitality and genuine enthusiasm for sharing their very special part of the world with travelers” The Wills family, Brisbane QLD

Arcadia Valley Escape was an ideal venue for us to kick start our central Queensland adventure. It was our 1st stop from Brisbane. You can experience total tranquillity of the bush… the sound you will hear that punctures the stillness of the bush is the symphony of songs from the multitude of bird life which live along the banks of the three dams on the farming property. If you are interested in bird life, this is the right place to go exploring.  If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing retreat totally away from the hustle and bustle, this is the place for you. We visited the Outpost building on another part of the property where it is set high up on a hill. The view from this location is amazing. We would love to return and stay there” John, Brisbane QLD

What a little gem! We booked in here for just one night while passing through to Carnarvon Gorge. We wished we had stayed for two or three days. Apart from walks, swimming, canoeing, fishing & bird watching, we were totally blown away by the outdoor cinema. Rowan likes to put on Australian movies & operates the cinema on Wednesday nights. Sitting on our camp chairs, under the stars in the remote bushland, on a cool autumn night, wrapped in blankets & completely alone, was an experience we won’t forget

Our stay at Arcadia Valley Escape was a real gem! We enjoyed our time in a beautiful part of Queensland. Maddie welcomed us and gave us ideas for explorations and activities. We loved spending time at the bird hides at their dams on the property. We were able to visit throughout the property and even “helped” Rowan with some of his cattle chores. Wonderful! ” Carol, Oregon USA

The Pearts made this a fantastic visit. We stayed in The Cottage which was huge. We drove and walked around the property alone and with Rowan but perhaps the most memorable time was sitting on the porch and having a great chat with Rowan and his Dad. The property is full of wildlife and of course hundreds of cattle. It was well worth the long drive in from the coast to experience this side of Australia” Steve & family, Singapore

This was such a lovely part of our trip! Beautiful location off the beaten track and in a different world. We stayed in the Homestead – large, homely and very comfortable. Rowan and Maddie are wonderful hosts – friendly, welcoming . . . .and inspiring! We were lucky to have arrived on the day the outdoor movies were on, sitting under the stars and enjoying local company. Doesn’t get better than that! This is a beautiful part of the world and thoroughly recommended for couples or families” Beth & Wayne, Hunter Valley NSW

What an amazing place to stay scenery is unbelievable and for adventure hungry people there is so much to do mountain climbing, tour of farm, building fire. Or if you just want to relax and just get lost in the scenery on the outpost verandah that is magic. Bathroom facilities are beautiful, clean and cooking was made easy with a great bbq as well as camp oven cooking out at the fire pit. Just the best stay wanted longer. What a clever family who have built the dream stone cabin !! ” Leslie, Brisbane QLD

Fantastic place for Families, Couples or groups. A farm tour to see the way the property is run was hosted by the owner Rowan. Very informative and many laughs along the way. Finishing with the latest venture, The Outpost. What a spot to stay. I cannot speak highly enough of this property and the people on it. Well worth a stop. Only a short drive (in country terms) to get to the amazing Carnarvon Gorge” Ann-Maree, Brisbane QLD
